@David One apple remote can control every application. Mac OS X is semi-smart about making it control the front-most application so you may not need third party remote software at all depending on what you want to do.

I'm getting a wireless keyboard with touchpad (KeySonic ACK-540MACRF Mini Keyboard ) to control most applications but when it comes to music and video a remote is easier.

I just need the remote control to access iTunes and VLC. Will I need 2 separate remotes (1 for iTunes and 1 for VLC) or can I get the same control to work on both?

Hi Jason, which Panasonic plasma do you have?
I'd like to buy the Viera P50V10 and use it with my apple mini, but before I want to be sure they're fully compatible.
Best regards

I have a panasonic 50 inch plasma and I fixed the issue by simply changing the TVs menu option:

Menu -> Picture ->Advanced Picture -> HD Size -> Size 2

Size 1 seems to overscan and Size 2 does't... it's perfect. No need for extra software.

Was pleasantly surprised to find someone trying to hook up a 1.66 intel duo mac mini to Panasonic plasma ... both my machines ... except I have a 46inch and am having all sorts of problems trying to config screen, with similar size issue and missing top menu ... and do I have over scan on or off . The mini identifies the screen, but no rez seems to fit ... help appreciated, and hopefully some one out there has the same config . Many thanks.

I have the exact set-up as you, expect with a 2008 model version of the mac mini., however can't seem to get anything to show up on the TV. Tried with a mac mini initially, but then tried a powerbook G4 so that I could try switching resolutions. No luck though. When I click on Detect Displays, nothing comes up. I assume it must be the TV, as I have tried another dvi to hdmi cable, but seems odd that the hdmi port would just be broken, considering everything else works on the tv. Any suggestions?

Hi Bill.. Funny you should ask that!

Nginx will be available next week, actually. Not much longer! As for the lighttpd memory leaks it seems to be related to how we're using it as a proxy so we'll probably be swapping out the proxy portion of the lighttpd setup with something else... perhaps even nginx as goofy as that sounds.

Dallas

Any updates on replacing Lighttpd with NGINX?

Would be great for us on a Private Server and are tired of having Lighttpd leak memory like a firehose

brilliant solved my problem with my April '09 mac mini and TX-P37X10. Set macmini res to 1280 x 720 and switch overscan off on the Panasonic tv, and you're done!
